DRP: Derbi Reactivation Project Effort

Thanks. It's a lot of work and sacrifice to pull it off. Takes a long time too!

DRP: Return of the DRP

I was hoping to get some riding in today on the DRP, but it didn't work out. Have to wait until tomorrow, but at least it's ready to ride again.

DRP: Running

With the DRP now running again it was time for some actual riding. I rode it out to the D-Store to watch the Brno race. On the way over there the rear caliper got stuck. I was able to loosen it up enough to get to the D-Store, and once there I bled out the rear. I'm going to have to give it a good look again.

After the D-Store I rode up to Twin Peaks, and then down into the Height. I can tell with a bit more sorting that the bike is going to be a lot of fun to ride. Right now it's still too rich, and the springs are way too soft. Changing the jetting is easy enough, but changing the springs is going to be challenging because I have no idea on what springs to get.

I didn't know too what springs should I get. I ended up with doing it for myself. Bought some really stiff, hard springs and I cut it to the proper size, grinded the 2 ends and voila, done. I mean there is propably a better way to do it but it works and I was in a rush so yeah

DRP: Springs and Things
For the rear shock it's an Öhlins, so I should be able to just source an Öhlins spring for it. For the fork I'm going to have to do more research, because there's not a lot of information on the Malossi Paioli F38R forks. I've sent Paioli an email inquiry. No response yet, but that's to be expected. I also posted to a French Derbi group where they are generally knowable. Eventually I'll figure it out. I may have to disassemble the fork first though. But I want to get this figured out before I go to Japan again, because I'll want to make the same upgrade on the Red Rocket.

DRP: Derbi Reactivation Project: Too Cold
Yesterday I went for a short ride again. One thing that keeps popping up is how long it takes the bike to warm up. The temp sensor barely gets to 50°C, but even running it will hang out in the 40s. When cold like that it doesn't run well at all. And sitting around waiting for it to warm up does pretty much nothing. Even revving it will only get it to the high 30s.

Re: DRP: Derbi Reactivation Project
Mine takes about 5-10 minutes to warm up properly so that's okay
I always start the bike up, drink a coffee, eat something and the bike warmed up

Re: DRP: Derbi Reactivation Project
Is there a thermostat in it?
Are there any other temp options for the thermostat?
