Broken casing
I seemed to plaqued with problems this weather. On bike today goin to work and temp light pinged on, I've had this before and usually coming off gas would be enough to pit light out. This was not the case today, it stayed on for my 5 mile trip. I got to work and found gear oil leaking from casing.removed oil pump cover and found nice hole on clutch side gear casing. This must of been drawing air causing bike to run lean and bring on light. Just wondered if anyone would know what the cause was? I'm waiting on new casing but it might do the sabe thing to the new one. Any ideas? Cheers

Broken casing: How to Photo
Photos! Yes there is a post on how to do that on GPR Camp. We do it a little differently than some other boards. Mostly relying on imgur for hosting. You can host them on the GPR Camp account, or if you have a bunch post them on your own account. I usually keep the images to around 1280 pixels or less, because more than that makes for slow loading pages.

Re: Broken casing
Hopefully those pictures work. It looks like the crankshaft nut has come loose and rubbed against casing and wore it thin to break it off! I have ordered a new casing and new crank nut. Just wondered if anyone else has had this before? Cheers

Broken casing: Filling holes
I was able to fix the post for you.
Now what's an interesting failure that I've not seen previously. In this case it's only the clutch cover that has been damaged, and not a part of the bike that suffers any sort of stress. You probably could just clean it out real well and epoxy the part back together. There's not a whole lot of oil pressure in that area to cause leak. Epoxy it from both sides, and you should be good to go.

Re: Broken casing
Thanks for all your help, I managed to get a good second hand cover for £40 so I will fit that with a new water pump and new crankshaft nut and threadlock it. Let's hope the threds on crank aren't damaged. Any idea of what the torque setting should be? Cheers

Broken casing: Torque Settings
Yup. There a Specs section on here, and a post of the Derbi torque specs. In this case, the crank shaft engine pinion, it calls for 8-10 Nm.
Nice price on the cover too.

Re: Broken casing
Yeah not too bad on cover! From the dealer over here in U.K. It was £130 for cover, and is back ordered 3-4 weeks so a second hand one was the only choice. Hey tora I've got some old bits don't know if they would be any use to you. Fuel tank (needs a lick of paint) side mouldings, and ignition lock that matches tank (bit worn) I will post pictures, and if your interested pm me.

Broken casing: Gallery
That's really nifty how imgur creates an image gallery like that one. I'm going to have to investigate that further. Yes I would be interested in the parts. I'm in the process of converting my 05 to brighter colors. However, parts purchasing has to wait until my funds become fluid again. I came back from Japan totally broke!
