2000 Derbi GPR EBE-075

Post by jkv357 » Wed Dec 06, 2017 6:45 am

Here are some photos showing the changes I've made to my Derbi GPR. I've owned it almost 3 years. It came with an Arrow pipe and a 24mm Mikuni Flatslide on it that was jetted way off. I corrected the jetting and added 1 tooth on the countershaft sprocket to drop the cruising revs a bit, as it will pull the taller gearing pretty well with the upgrades once it gets into the 7500 RPM range. It pulls clean all the way, and tops out around 80.

This is how it looked when I got it -

Here are a few of the changes I made:

Removed the passenger peg mounts and coated the bracket -

Stripped and coated the wheels blue and did a few details on the rotors and sprocket. Added some Ti bolts -

Had the upper triple machined and coated it in a wrinkle charcoal powder -

A few other details -

As it currently sits -

Still have a few more details to attend to...

A few more photos, -

My oldest boy warming it up on a chilly (47F IIRC) WI morning before heading out to the Slimey Crud cycle gathering a few years ago. He had the '04 Ninja, I still have the '06 SV. He recently sold the Ninja and bought a '98 VFR800, which he rode solo from WI to Santa Clara, CA and back over the summer.

At the Slimey Crud cycle gathering in Pine Bluff, WI, with my buddy's Bultaco, Ducati single, and KTM RC390. I rode the RC that day. Local hero Peter Egan (of Cycle World fame) started it many years ago. Usually around 800 cycles show up -

Even there, hardly anyone knows what a Derbi is - which is kinda fun.

Got the Marquez Derbi picture framed and hung as a backdrop for the GPR today -

The other photos (Kenny Roberts Jr. on a 250 and Robbie Peterson on a 500 - both Yamaha 2-strokes)I took at Brainerd back in the day when I was working as a magazine photographer.

Derbi GP Riders

Hey J!

Very cool. Are you going to add other Derbi riders like Yuichi Ui, Lorenzo, Zarco, Angel Nieto, Jorge Martinez, Pol Espargaró, Efrén Vázquez, Joan Olive, Nicolas Terol, Lukas Pesek, Emilio Alzamora, Mike di Meglio etc? You could have quite the impressive Derbi wall.

Thanks.

Zarco may be next if I could find a nice printable shot.
