For Year 3 of the Vision Zero SF Motorcycle Safety program, we are partnering with San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) and the Department of Public Health (DPH) to offer Free Motorcycle Safety Skills Closed-Course Trainings throughout the month of August. These hands-on trainings are a result of specific feedback heard from many of you during Years 1 and 2 of our Motorcycle Safety Ambassador Trainings. We are excited to have you participate in this year’s trainings!

This one-day course will be taught by San Francisco Police Department motorcycle officers in an easy-going controlled environment. Riders will learn and practice safe motorcycle techniques such as:
  • Lane-splitting
  • How to safely cross Muni and rail tracks
  • Emergency maneuvers
  • Defensive driving
  • Braking
Participants will need to have their own motorcycles, proper safety gear and attire, and provide proof of license and insurance. Registration is open now, and the deadline to sign up is August 8, 2019.

If you would like to share with your networks, here are a couple easy ways to do it: In your outreach, you may want to also include links to our Motorcycle Safety videos and website.

Motorcycle riders account for 20% of all traffic fatalities, and it is our goal to promote safe streets in San Francisco. Please let me know if you are interested in sharing this with your network and let me know if you have any questions. Riders are encouraged to attend this free one-day course!
