Vins srl is proposing this year as a new start up and a very special motorcycle manufacturer. Following the experience gained over the last few years at the Ferrari Auto universe, it has decided to walk alone and to start from March 2017 this new reality in Maranello, in the heart of the Italian Motor Valley.

2 STROKE - The product presented to Eicma consists of two versions: Vins Two Hundred and Vins Two Hundred Competitions. Both motors enjoy innovative technical solutions, all of which are all seen on a single motorcycle, from the two-stroke, electronically-powered carbon fiber single-frame chassis. Even from the point of view of cycling, there is no news: the front suspension uses a double arm arm with a single shock absorber, while the rear is provided with a mono shock absorber positioned transversely to double actuation. All these features make the product offered absolutely exclusive: production, limited edition, is scheduled for 2018; a part of it is made up of exemplars already preordered by future owners.

ROAD - The Vins Two-Fifth, the road version, is the entry point for the range using a running weight that is already an absolute benchmark for the same-class motorbike and weighing only 95 kg. engine power at the moment is not defined and will be announced by being marketed.

RACE - The Vins Two Hundred Competitions are voted for pure performance: in this case, the weight in running order does not exceed 90 Kg, while the same value applies to the cavalry thus obtaining a weight / power ratio of 1. The philosophy that stands at the base of each model and version is about absolute search for lightness, efficiency and road and track efficiency, to ensure endless endless user experience that does not require fatigue. Every imput of the pilot corresponds to a prompt reaction of the medium as desired, making the instant motion in the responses, however, always honest and safe in any situation.

More news on Vins.

Moto.it interviews the Vins team.

Image Google Translation:
Entering the headquarters of Maranello, two steps from the Ferrari from which come the five guys who have given life to the operation, is breathing enthusiasm. A small shed, synthesis of the passion of the workshops of the past and the efficiency of the existing factories, which David, Joseph, Nicholas Vincent and the two are equipped with all the devices that are used to build Vins Duecinquanta : a two-stroke sports which at EICMA has literally ferocious.

I wonder if it's direct injected to help it meet emissions

They have applied for many patients on their engine. It is quite possible to have a two stroke that is cleaner than the current four strokes. Four strokes are really nasty with NOx, and the two stroke naturally does quite well with NOx.

More sexy bits from Vins—the Jolly Moto pipes.

The 250cc 2T sports come back: Duecinquanta Vins, up to 90 hp of power

TodoCircuito wrote:A couple of years ago, on the occasion of the 2015 Milan Motor Show, a group of ex-engineers of the Ferrari Formula 1 team showed a concept dubbed Vins Powerlight, a light two-stroke sports car with carbon fiber monocoque chassis that, in the future, it could be approved to travel by road, and comply with the Euro4 regulations.

Two years later, at the EICMA 2017, the Vins boys rented a small stand to show, now, the final version of this project, officially named Vins Duecinquanta in honor of its 250cc two-stroke engine, a displacement that increases up to 288 cc in the case of the Duecinquanta Competizione, destined exclusively for circuit.

Starting with its engine, Vins maintains the disposition we saw in the 2015 concept: a two-cylinder V-Twin two-stroke engine rotated 90º inside the chassis, with electronic injection, and two crankshafts turning in the opposite direction. Unlike the prototype, the final version grows in displacement up to 249 cc, and reaches 80 hp power. Figures that improve to 288 cc, and 90 hp for the Competizione version.

Thanks to its advanced electronics and the work done on the exhaust catalytic converter the street Duecinquanta is able to comply with the Euro4 approval, so that it can be legally circulated along the roads of Europe. The pipes, and carbon fiber silencers are manufactured by Jolly Moto specialists.

The chassis is another of the elements that draw attention in this Duecinquanta. It is a monocoque type, manufactured entirely in carbon fiber, and thanks to an internal aluminum support it is capable of supporting the radiator, the tank and the engine. The monocoque construction of the chassis forced Vins to place the air inlet to the radiator right at the front, so that the fresh air inlet and the hot air outlet are channeled directly, one of the most used solutions in the world of competition.

The massive use of carbon fiber in the chassis, and the fairings allow the Duecinquanta to boast a weight in running order (with gasoline and liquids) of approximately 95 kilos. In the case of the Competizione the scale stops at 85 kilos resulting in more than 1 horsepower per kilo.

Also striking is its front suspension scheme, which instead of using a telescopic fork uses two oscillating carbon triangles driven by a damper located at the height of the steering column, an idea similar to that used by BMW in its Duolever system (for example, the K1300R). Behind we found a mono-shock absorber of type 'push-rod' located horizontally, fully adjustable.

The price of this little gem? Vins has already opened the order period from 40,000 euros for the street version, and 50,000 euros in the case of the Duecinquanta Competizione, figures that place this very light sport over bikes like the Ducati Panigale V4S (30,490 euros), or the Yamaha YZF-R1M (26,899 euros).

Vins: Meet the new 249cc, fuel-injected Vins Motors Duecinquanta

The 250cc two-stroke streetbike is back, baby! If the numbers are correct, the Vins Motors two-stroke streetbikes will be brilliant little weapons. What we have here is a brand new concept from Italian start-up Vins Motors—a 250cc two-stroke parallel twin in a carbon monocoque chassis, with no welds and the all-important Euro 4 compliance.

The product of five ex-Ferrari engineers and designers and dubbed the Vins Motors Duecinquanta (Italian translation of Two Fifty), the motorcycle weighs a staggering 209lb ready to ride, with 70hp coming from its 249cc parallel-twin, fuel injected, two-stroke engine. The front suspension uses a parallelogram layout (similar to the legendary Britten V1000), with a monoshock acting on a carbon fiber swingarm at the rear, with the show rolling of gorgeous Dymag carbon fiber wheels.

“There are no more two-strokes anymore,” said Vins Motos Vincenzo Mattia to the British publication, Performance Bikes. “If you are passionate about these bikes, there are only old bikes like the Suzuki RGV and Cagiva Mito. They are nice, but they are too old. We must bring the two-stroke back.

The Competizione model promises to turn things up a few notches. Many, actually.
“The bike is inspired by Colin Chapman (legendary Formula One designer) and Lotus—we are making the bike light, with as few parts as possible, with some components doing more than one task,” the PB story continues. “The monocoque is both the bodywork and the chassis and carries the coolant. It’s designed to draw air into the engine from breathing and cooling and exhaust the hot air.

“There are no welds on the bike—it is bolted or bonded together to save weight.”

The company will also be producing a Competizione edition, that drops the weight down further to just 187 lb (85kg), with a capacity increase to 288cc giving a very healthy 85hp.

These are not yet production bikes, merely prototypes, but Vins Motors plans to have these two pocket rockets up and running next year. Looks like our man Alan Cathcart has a new European assignment for 2018!

Ex-Ferrari Engineers Are Building a Carbon Fiber Two-Stroke Superbike

The Vins Duecinquanta makes 80 horsepower, weighs less than 200 lbs, and does 150 mph.

When it comes to packing big power in a small package, it's hard to beat a two-stroke engine. Dirty emissions have largely sidelined the two-stroke in modern machines, but a newly-founded motorcycle company hopes to bring it back in an ultra-lightweight bike available in street and track variants.
