The prototype Derbi GPR80 Cup starts to roll with two well-defined objectives: to start with guarantees and benefits in the world of races to the aspiring pilots and to be the base of the future street saddles of 50 and 125 cc.
BARCELONA.- The Derbi GPR80 Cup has rolled for the first time in a circuit. The bike Derbi has designed for the youngest to enter the world of racing has covered this morning around twenty laps at the Circuit de Catalunya, located very close to the Martorelles factory.
The new Derbi prototype arrives with two well-defined objectives: to start with guarantees and benefits in the world of races to the aspirants to pilot, and to be the base of the future saddles of 50 and 125cc streets. The last version of the Derby GPR was presented last September at the Fairs of Milan and Paris, receiving all kinds of praise for its design and technological contributions.

This first version of 80 cc—equipped with a Derbi engine suitably prepared for competition—is serving as a rolling test bench for the development of future models of series of 50 and 125 cc, which will see the light in a short period of time . The cycle part, with the exception of some components in a specific way, will be common to all three versions, which will guarantee the users of the new GPR50 exceptional performance qualities on the asphalt.
The fundamental feature of the new bike is a robust double beam chassis made of extruded aluminum, with a geometry derived directly from the Grand Prix Derbi motorcycles, which this year will use Jorge Lorenzo and Angel Rodríguez.
The front suspension is entrusted to an inverted fork of 40 mm diameter bars, adjustable both in extension and compression, while behind, the monoshock of 14 mm shank, also multi-adjustable, is anchored to a swing arm manufactured by combining aluminum parts extruded and fusion, also inspired by the one that equips the motorcycle racing of the brand in order to offer the maximum guarantees and benefits possible.
The front braking system is really advanced, with components never seen before in vehicles of this displacement: floating 300 mm disc, radial anchorage clamp and radial type pump.
The aesthetics has been taken care of to the maximum, with daring and stylized lines of its fairing and an escape with superior exit under the tail, following the last tendencies.
