Eleven Eleven Eleven II—Sunday Nov 11Th

The eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month mankind came together to put an end to all wars. While this dream has yet to be realized, even as a lofty goal it is one we should forever seek. This will be our second year to honor the people who’s life adventures took them down this path—we will ride 11/11/11.

Prep the bikes, get the chains lubed up, the registrations current, the tires checked, and get that riding gear ready. Smaller (50~85cc) two stroke replicas like the Derbi GPR, and the Aprilia RS50 are very much encouraged. Fast mopeds (make sure your brakes work!), Scooters, Groms and such are okay!

This will be a decently paced ride. Prep the bikes, get the chains lubed up, the registrations current, the tires checked, and get that riding gear!

We’ll meet up and gas up at the Chevron on Geary and Arguello, Sunday November 11th at ~10:30am, KSU at 11:00pm.

There will be other stops for the bikes that guzzle. Lunch will take place in Fairfax.

If you are looking for a Replica Racer check out the foro, and lets find one for you. If you still haven’t gotten your Replica Racer ready lets get on that, we can help you!

Route—this route is tentative.

Aprilia SR50—Alex
The rumor mill has emoted that Alex may be showing up on his Aprilia SR50 mini MotoGP styled scooter.

There's also been some scuttlebutt about an SSR Razkull making an appearance due to a documentation error.

Eleven Eleven Eleven II—Sunday Nov 11Th: Air Quality

Air Quality
Due to the Butte County fires the air quality in the SF Bay Area has been classified as unhealthy these last couple of days. This morning looks challenging too. Lots of read and orange areas.

SF72.org hosts a website on air quality, and precautions to take when the air is dangerous.

BAAQMD provides hourly updates on air quality.

Most of those goofy masks you see people donning provide no protection against this kind of air pollution. ABC has provided a useful and informative page on inexpensive masks.

The California Department of Public Health has a more in depth page on protecting yourself in smoky conditions.

Eleven Eleven Eleven II—Sunday Nov 11Th: Photos and ride report

It's been a while since we've made it out to the twisties—mostly because this has been a challenging year for all of us. But somehow it all came together today, and we got to enjoy a couple of the best things in life. Friendship and riding.

The air quality suffered due to the fires. This made it hard to breath, and see, but it also kept the traffic almost non-existent. I can't remember a Sunday when the roads were more empty than they were today. Pantoll was closed due to the fire potential. This caused us to change our route. Which worked out well enough. We stop early for lunch at the Stinson Beach Parkside. Sat out with Jonathan Livingston, and his friend The Crow.

After which we rode 21 corners and back. Those swoopy lazy corners that dare you to keep the throttle open just a little bit longer, and the brakes off just a tiny bit more. From there it was back through the new HWY-1 with gorgeous views of the ocean and cliffs winding to and fro to the sounds of our engines. Exhilarating. Exhausting. Entertaining.

Once back across the bridge we enjoyed the ring around the fountain, and down to the Cliff House. A pleasant stop at the beach for a little bit of bench racing, and then it was homeward bound. A good day, yes it was a good day.
