Looking @ p/u truck tents to sleep for a day @ the track and GPR camp.
You guys have me looking @ yz85 engines kitted to 110cc and dropping that into this chassis. Palomar mountain is nice canyon carving and 20 minutes from me but it's getting too hot to dress appropriately for fun road riding and MX. It's surfing weather.

That Derbi SuperMotard looks like a BLAST—Was that the 'roller' that was on CL for awhile, or something else ?
I keep looking for the roller to pop up again, but it hasn't so I'm wondering if I should give up ?
RJ—The roller is gone. My friend Tyler who runs MopedGP bought it. He of course saw it on my Replica Racers postings.
Wolf—I'm not a fan of putting the dirt bike engines in these bikes. There are folks that do it and like it, but I'm not one of them. If you aren't having fun with what you can get out of these engines then (in my opinion) you are doing it wrong.
That, and most people that do it don't do a proper job of it. When you upgrade the engine to that extent you should be upgrading the chassis, suspension, and very importantly the brakes. I rarely see any of that happen when folks transplant a dirt bike engine.
The other thing is, you really don't need one of those engines in these bikes. Frequently the folks with those engines don't ride as fast as the folks with them. If you need a bigger engine to that extent it's better just to get a different bike--but of course that comes with a whole different bag of conundrums.
Here's a video from the first Derbi de Mayo ride. The slow motard has a CR85 engine in it. The Tetsuya RS is by far the slowest bike on the ride, and yet because the rider was one of the best (I would say the best) he out rides everyone. The slow GPR rider is me.
I remember doing bicycle camping rides to Mt. Palomar when I was in high school. I also did the Tecate-Encinada ride twice. That was pretty stupid. I hear the roads are much better now.
I did the 40 mile BXM ride last year. That almost killed me.
But it was a good time.
I really want to do some riding in the Santa Monica hills. There are some amazing roads out there. The trick would be finding the right campsite from which to host base camp.
