RMP SM Project: Ignition

Post by toratora » Sun Jan 27, 2019 2:39 am

There still doesn’t seem to be a great ignition solution for these bikes. The quest continues. The HPI would be so cool if it actually worked.

I did look around on the Ignitech website previously. I only saw the CDI boxes.

These CDI boxes should be compatible with your flywheel though. I can help in that if you are interested.

They sell literally everything for ignitions. And other stuff too. Here is some nice stuff! altough they are kinda expensive, but pretty nice.

RMP SM Project—Rieju MRT Pro: Failure

Post by kaldis12 » Fri Feb 15, 2019 10:18 am

Today I managed some progress. Not much though.
I hooked up the 2nd radiator and filled up the system.
I remanaged my cables for the ignition. Cuz' it has a lot of cables like 34 or so.
I thought that I was going to finish this today and the entire project this week. Well I was wrong. I was trying for 3 hours to get the Selettra flywheel down from the crankshaft. Failure. Tomorrow I will retry it. Never ever buy Selettra. Its flywheel is just shit, threads rip out, and you cant even get it down with a bearing puller because it has cooling fins on the back which always breaks.

Kinda happy with the overall data junks. I gathered a good 5gb of data in 10 minutes from the bike. Will be very useful in the continuing and in fine tune process. And please dont look at how those cables look there. Im just in a big rush.
Forgive me the quality of the video, fuckin phones. Sent over Messenger, thats the consequence of it.

RMP SM Project—Rieju MRT Pro: More problems

Post by kaldis12 » Sun Feb 24, 2019 10:31 am

So,
Managed to start her up for like 3 heat cycles. I made some minor modifications. There was a gearbox oil leak so got it fixed. I putted a 162 main jet in the carb, needle on the 2nd from the pointy end. It was awesome. Waay waay better than it was, I was really suprised. Its too lean now too!
Altough I am happy, Im kinda sad too. After the 3. Heat cycle I saw little bubbles in the water pipes. That means the head O-ring blew up. I was right.
Image
Will fix it on the next week. Will machine a bit angle in the cylinder head, where the O ring meets with it. It will give a better seal, thats for sure. Will put a thicker O ring in there too.

First is how it will look like and the second is what it is now.

RMP SM Project—Rieju MRT Pro: Exhaust

Post by kaldis12 » Tue Mar 12, 2019 2:38 pm

Today I went for a long road, It was kinda worth it, I have bought 2 exhausts.
Image
The right one seems to be more promising, from its shape and colour. Will put it on a dyno about in a month or so.
They are kinda pricy though, they are about 360$ / exhaust. Not too friendly, but will see how they doing.
We will need a dyno chart for making our custom exhaust, so it will be later on. I hope that it will be done before summer.

Today I made a lot of progress. My exhaust is nearly done(waiting for the silencer), I putted up the fairings, and started the engine up.

After all this, I thought everything will run smoothly. But nope. My Head O-ring blew up again after a minute or so. The fight will continue a bit more...

Im hoping to finish it until 12th. There will be a quick "dragrace".

RMP SM Project—Rieju MRT Pro: O-Rings

Post by toratora » Sun Jun 30, 2019 7:47 pm

That’s so strange that you are having those o-ring issues. What material are the ones you are using? That might be part of the problem.

Also, are you going to support the silencer? I broke my best Metrakit pipe’s stinger by not supporting the silencer. :scream_cat:
