Galfer DF764W Wavy Front Disc
Chad pointed this out to me today. It will be a while before I get to it, but is that cool or what?

The Galfer DF764W wavy front disc for the classic RS50.

Adventures in Apriliandia: Miscellaneous Parts

Our new member Gary is a Rieju rider, but he had some RS 50 parts laying around from a Rieju stash he procured. I figured that they would probably come in handy, eventually, when I get to putting this bike together. 8-)

Adventures in Apriliandia: Plastics Non-Stop

Image . The plastics from Gary showed up yesterday. Lots of nice stuff for the Aprilia project. Some of this stuff obviously wont work on the bike, but that's okay. I’m confident that eventually homes will be found.

Many of these parts are doubles of what I ordered from AF-1 last year. That’s okay as it is nice to have spares. Nearly all of it is new old stock, with the one exception being the pilot seat. It is unfortunate that the pillion seat isn't red.

The front cowling is from a Tuano. That could be fun bike to build up someday. Over all a bunch of nice parts. They were also very well packed.

Eventually this project will be ready to start building. Lots of little things left to find though, including a headlamp bucket. That so far has been rather illusive.

Adventures in Apriliandia: Tuano

There’s a Tuano tank cover up on eBay right now. If someone wanted to do a conversion it would be quite simple. Although, I think the Tuanos also had shorter rear sets, and of course moto-x style bars.

The two parts that will go on this bike are the pilot seat, and faring frame. The other stuff will go in a box until someone needs them.

Adventures in Apriliandia: Illumination and the Inner Cowlings

This bike also needs the inner cowlings. There’s something on eBay, but they are in Japan, and the shipping is insane. :flushed:

There’s a really nice headlamp up there too, but they want insane money for it. :disappointed:

Adventures in Apriliandia: Speed Nuts

The Chadzilla was asking me about speed nuts the other day for his RS50. He sent me a link on AF-1 that illustrated M5s, but knowing that the Derbi employs M6 speed nuts/bolts for most of the fairing mounts I figured I had better check it out.

It turns out that most of the fairing bolts/speed nuts on the RS50 are indeed M5s. The fenders, the tail section, and the side panels all employed the M5s.

.
I did find one M6 speed nut near the horn. I’ll have to do some more research on this one.

Upon further investigation I discovered that this is the lower radiator mount.

Adventures in Apriliandia: From China with Love

I ordered some faring fasteners from China. It took them a little while to get here, but they look quite nice. I intend to employ these on the RS when it comes time to put it together. These are M5s. I also ordered some M6 faring bolts for the GPRs, but those have yet to arrive.

Adventures in Apriliandia: Engine Swap!

People keep asking me what engine they should get to swap into their RS50. They wont listen to me when I say stick with the AM6. :scream_cat:

So how about going with the engine that Aprilia has chosen to employ since 2006? :joy_cat:

If it seems like this bike is taking forever to come together well that’s because it is taking forever! :scream_cat: Today another box of parts showed up. I found these on eBay. The bike actually had these parts when I got it, but RD’s RS 50 didn’t, and he “borrowed” them for it.

Still need to find the inner side panels, a headlamp, the entire left hand side rearset with shifter linkage (those also ended up on RD’s bike), clutch lever, and I’m sure I’ll find some other parts along the way. :paw_prints:
