2018 Aprilia RS4 50 Euro 4 Upgrade Project
Re: 2018 Aprilia RS4 50 Euro 4 Upgrade Project
Nope, idle shouldnt be bad because of piston rings. That would mean a bad piston ring gap and would end up by breaking or lower lifetime of the cylinder. It should be beacuse of bad carburation.

ok good.
For bumping it I have to hold the throttle all the way open for a period of time to get it going.. and also doesnt idle. so maybe not enough fuel is going through??? im thinking of changing the jets up, but especially the pilot jet. from 40 to 46? if any other suggestion pls add. thanks

Not all the way. With good carburation you should open the throttle less than 1/4. If ypu need to open it more then it gets to much fuel .

ok, so when I was checking the electric starting before , the plug seemed dry.. so maybe not enough fuel getting through??. ill put a bigger 48 pilot in and test it.

Are you push-starting in 2nd gear?
It makes it a lot easier.

Just for comparsion, i needed to push my bike in 3th gear with 3 people to start. So yours should be fine.

2018 Aprilia RS4 50 Euro 4 Upgrade Project: Just Run it in
Right now you need to get it run it a little bit. So just use the throttle to get through the heat cycles. Put the original temp sensor in just to keep the hole plugged, add the coolant, and run the bike. It really doesn't need to idle, because you shouldn't let it idle at this point anyway.
Warm the bike up like in this video. Start off at the top rev at around 7K or so. At each heat cycle you can bring the revs up a little bit more, and since you don't yet have a working temp gauge do the first one for 5 min, second for 10, and third for 15. After the three heat cycles take it for a short ride keeping the revs no higher than 8K the first time. Then let it cool all the way down. Do another ride bringing it up to 9K, let it cool down, again to 10K, and then 11K. The bike will start running in, and performance will be better.
Pay attention to the throttle to make sure the bike is loading up (indicating it is rich), and since you don't know if your jetting is correct check the plug. If it looks lean then jet it richer.
