The ProRace is more aggressive, and would be too hard for her to ride in the Street.. The SP (Sports Production) is still pretty aggressive, but should be okay—and a whole lot of fun.

I have run a ProRace on a stock bottom end. It can be done, but it's best to upgrade the bottom end if you are going to run a ProRace. For this bike though I wouldn't suggest a ProRace.

Great.. I went and ordered the SP version this morning.(glad I stuck with your original suggestion)

If I type in 'sealant' into GPR.. then loads of posts pop up.. and your copper sealant seems to do a great job. France is useless for getting any in the shops so resorted online again. went for the spray this time as saw it a load on quite a few youtube vids.

Dont think you can tell these were ever red before

A little good advice from be: put on the cylinder and start it up before you make any changes on it. After you see its good, just paint it down or you know anything else.

Hane would approve the extra safety gear!

Do you think the crash had to do with the starter failing? Since it was covered under warranty were you able to bring in the starter to the dealer to swap it out, or did they want the whole bike to do the swap?

For gearing on kitted bikes I will run either a 14, or 15 up front with a 52, or 53 in the rear. The rear sprocket is generally chosen based on what comes with the bike. The front sprocket has to do with where I'll be riding.

If it's hilly then I'll want the 14 to be able to get out of the tight uphill corners. If I need more top speed, say for some quick sprints on the freeway, then the 15 is quite useful.

It would probably be good to have a selection of front sprockets, and just use an E-clip to make swapping them out easy. The Grom uses the same front sprockets as the Derbi so it's easy to get front sprockets for these bikes.

You keep asking about other things to get for the bike! It's pretty much endless. Again look through the project threads for ideas. I would probably ditch the stock tires and fit Sava/Mitas MC50s on there. That's what I did with both of my bikes that have the same type wheels.

I'm also a fan of more gauges. A water temp gauge would be easy to add. EGT would be a little harder, but those are nice too. They probably aren't super important on this build, but get the water one. The Koso I have on the DRP would be nice.
Hey Tora the koso slimline water temp that u fitted to your gpr did that need any further mods to fit?

Also how did u fix ur exhaust head... mine is doing the same thanks

To use the Koso you do need an adapter. The Koso sensor is a PT 1/8, and the Derbi employs an M14x1.5. Koso also makes some sensors that are are 14x1.5.

It is important to note that Trail Tech sensors will not work with Koso, or Stage6.

When you say exhaust head do you mean the exhaust port on the cylinder? To me the head is the bit that goes on the top of the cylinder—the red part in these photos. I don't include the cylinder (the white part in these photos) in that nomenclature. To talk about all of the parts I'll say “top end.” To describe the entire unit below the top end will be the “bottom end,” and that will include the crank, bearings, cases, etc.

In my chemistry classes nomenclature was brutal, but I did learn how important it was to use proper terminology in order to have better/more accurate communication. With bikes it's important so that we can reduce our mistakes! ;)

I use a copper coat to seal the exhaust port. It's available as a spray, tube, and can. I prefer the can version, because it comes with a brush, and it doesn't go bad which is a problem I've had with sealers in tubes.

Cheers yes.. it's the exhaust port on the engine . I thought the front end of the exhaust was referred to as the exhaust head .....anyway i did order some copper sealant spray a few days ago and ordered a couple of gaskets so hopefully that should work. Will order the paste too.

I read somewhere that if you change from a flush mounted pipe fitting (ie the standard one) to a 'graduated sleve' fitting excuse the term... then you could have problems..
thanks for the info on the sensors :)

2018 Aprilia RS4 50 Euro 4 Upgrade Project

Post by kaldis12 » Sat Nov 03, 2018 2:45 pm

How old is she? By looking, this age would be the best to learn everything about her own bike, so later on she can do everything by herself :) i started learning about bikes when I was 12. After 2 years I learnt a lot of stuff, they are pretty useful now. Maybe she can became Toratora 2.0 :D

2018 Aprilia RS4 50 Euro 4 Upgrade Project: The Wrenching

Post by toratora » Sat Nov 03, 2018 10:39 pm

I also started wrenching on motos at twelve. Worked on bicycles before that too. It's a great skill that is sorely lacking in the world today. Totally awesome that you are creating this opportunity for Amaya.
