New project - TZR250R

Latest acquisition, just off the boat -

Image

1991 TZR250R, 250cc V-twin. Runs well, but needs some attention cosmetically - and tires (real bad).

I've been wanting another 2-stroke street bike (I started riding on a RD400, then a RZ350), and was looking for a Mito. One slipped by, and I also considered an Aprilia RS125, but my son convinced me to get a 250.

The TZR in this livery was always my favorite - so what the heck!

Took quite a bit to convince the wife...

That is an awesome bike!

I assume you used a service to buy at auction and arrange shipping? Can you tell us a little about the process? I’ve been toying with the idea of buying a 125 or 250 for a bit. But haven’t been super comfortable with the service I’ve seen so far.

There is a guy (Richard) in the Tulsa, OK, area that imports Japanese bike by the shipping container. He has a guy that will deliver anywhere for about $500.

I found him with a search on Tulsa, OK, Craigslist for 2-stroke streetbikes or something like that. He is also on FB I think. He doesn't really go by a company name.

Let me know if you can't find him, and I'll get you his info.

EDIT: Here's one of his ads -
