Stop That Man!: Alternative Master

Post by scottydog » Wed Jun 06, 2012 1:39 pm

This might be the master cylinder to look at or at leas the piston size.

http://www.motostrano.com/Brembo-Master ... -1200x.htm

It uses a 12 or 13mm piston which based on my hydraulic classes would give a huge amount of leverage over a 16mm piston. Basically less fingers needed to stop, but more lever travel.

Stop That Man!: Where's the R—ARRRRR!

Post by toratora » Wed Jun 06, 2012 1:39 pm

Yeah once you've had radial... :o

Actually the RS master is axial, and yes by the math you'd think that the smaller master would be better—empirically though that's not what I've found.

Stop That Man!: Fork Job

Post by toratora » Wed Jun 06, 2012 2:39 pm

I've never heard of the Malossi forks. I've seen the Marzocchi forks on the 125's and newer 50's. Got photos?

You can still get the Metrakit disc and they even made one for this bike (I believe that it's bigger than the older one—300mm vs 280mm)—Bike-Spares has it, but the price has kept me away.

Check out this Cup bike; it's got some sort of special disc on it as well.

Oh and you'll like this: I think I've finally found the panther decals which we talked about what two years ago already? I still want to do these black on black. However, the price is so high that I'm unable to go for it at this time. : /

Stop That Man!: ¿Paioli?

Post by scottydog » Thu Jun 07, 2012 4:39 pm

Hey Tora, sounds like finding a good brake setup isn't going to be easy, lots of trial and error!! hmmm!!

Sweet finding the sticker stuff, for sure on my list of things to buy!!

I want to get the brake discs also, so I have that on my wish list!

Now for the forks, definely very nice, I don't like how the stock forks work, too stiff for me, always skipping over bumps and stuff!

The Malossi ones look to be the perfect setup, they also do shocks too. The forks are made by Paioli and are super cool in my books! Not cheap, talking about 900 Euros, so on my long term wish list, but whether I ever purchase them, well who knows!!

Stop That Man!: Just Add Water

Well it wasn't easy for me because I had to work through all this stuff. However for you it is easy because you can just buy up the bits and bolt them on. :P

Stop That Man!: Gixer Fixer

Post by toratora » Wed Jun 13, 2012 12:39 pm

On the ride this weekend I noticed that my friend's Suzuki had the same left hand switch gear as the GPR—except the pass light was yellow instead of red. I thought that was interesting. So I did some hunting around and it turns out that the GPR employs the same clutch perch as some of the Suzukis.

Here's a GSXR750 with the stock lever and an after market lever.

Image

I found this page on the Motogm.com site that lists a bunch of Suzuki's and even a Kawasaki that share the same clutch lever as the 2005 GPR.

Here are a couple of shots of the GPR's clutch lever-perch.

Basically what this means is that rather nice levers can be found for the GPR.

GSX R 1000 01-02
GSX R 1000 03-04

GSX R 750 04-05
GSX R 750 96-99
Gladius
TL 1000 S

Kawasaki

And on another page I found that bike is compatible with all of these Kawi's

Nice find Tora!! I spend most my time focusing on the NSR, never have time to investigate bits for the Derbi! That would look nice!!
