Shifter options

Post by Dangerous Dave » Mon Sep 03, 2018 6:05 am

So there's something I'd like to change about my GPR50. The shift lever is too damn high. I have to physically lift my foot off the peg to shift. If I rotate it down one spline, it's WAY too low. Anybody have any good options for this before I take a torch to it?

Because the GPR and the Mito employ the same rear sets you can get a shifter mechanism from a Mito, and run it on a GPR. You will have to tap out the mounting point though as they don't come threaded on the GPR. I swapped a set of GPR rear sets on to my Mito some time ago. This photos was just grabbed off the web.

It's possible that your stock shifter was bent at some point in time. The metal on the older shifters is fairly malleable though, so bending it to where you want it shouldn't be too difficult.

Got a spare you want to sell? 😁
Adjustability would be awesome, but I'll take a torch to it at work in a pinch.

They show up on eBay with some frequency.

Another option is to try and find some aftermarket rearsets for the Mito. Valter Moto use to make these for the Mito, and they were available from Carpimoto for about 130€. But they've been discontinued.

Here's what they look like on a Mito.
